Trojan Women

Background

The ruins of the city of troy..... The women are awaiting deportation. Chinks of strong sunlight entering from outside. male versus female. A refuge A holding place...... Waiting.................

The Brief

The design had to be suggestive of a burned out oil container which had been re-purposed a holding cell. Shafts of light suggest a hot sunny day outside. There was only one way in or out of the space through a sliding door. The Gods, which are present in most Greek plays were able to view the action from walkways which came down to ground level.
